A FEW OF OUR FAVORITE MOTIVATIONAL QUOTES FOR FITNESS

Pro Fitness RI is your Warwick, RI, gym of choice. We are a part of a Warwick gym which we are proud of for many reasons, but today we will be highlighting only one aspect of what makes our fitness center so special. Our classes and facilities are pretty special, it’s the people (both our staff and members) that make this place different from other local gyms.

There’s a positivity which is contagious here at Pro Fitness RI. Practically every class you attend, you’ll feel the energy; people want to do something meaningful with their day. We all have a choice between stagnation and growth, and what the people at Pro Fitness RI want to infect you with is a zest for improvement. Whether that’s through utilizing our many group fitness classes we offer, our personal trainers, or through self-guided workouts at our facilities, that’s up to you. Our goal is to empower our gym members to be the best they can be, that day.

With that in mind, today’s blog is all about fitness inspiration and motivation. We understand that there’s only so much a single blog can do to get you jazzed out of your mind to start healthy habits and get in shape, but we are pretty sure this one will help put you over the edge if that is what you need. Regardless of if you need a little push to get back on the saddle or a really big shove, we hope you find today’s blog exactly where you need to be met!

GET INSPIRED TO GET IN SHAPE!

Strength does not come from the physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.” – Gandhi

Let’s start by quoting one of the wisest people to ever walk on earth, although we will warrant that most of us would be far from impressed watching the man try to max out on the bench press.

But let’s not hold it against him. As Gandhi himself noted in the quote above, true strength doesn’t come from being able to bench or squat a metric ton, but its source comes from our willpower alone. You must wake up and greet the day saying “Yes” to the challenges you are about to face; doing so will leave you in much better shape in the long-run, and we aren’t just talking about physical fitness here either. Yes, a strong will should help you hit the gym like you mean it every day, but it will also help you be more responsible, dependable, and steady in a range of other ways!

But how do we train willpower to be, well, powerful?

Training gives us an outlet for suppressed energies created by stress and thus tones the spirit just as exercise conditions the body.” – Arnold Schwarzenegger

For starters, don’t bite off more than you can chew. Instead of comparing yourself up against your ideal self, meaning what you want to look like in a year or two, judge yourself based on how you did yesterday, and improve from there. After all, it’s the best way to be consistent in your approach. Improving daily will set you up for success in the long run by keeping your mind fixed on short-term, clear, and present goals. Comparing yourself to someone else’s journey will only leave you feeling deflated in the end.

Mr. Schwarzenegger points out, in so many words, that going to the gym will tone our spirit as well as our body. This is because training allows us the chance to release negative energy and stress in a healthy, constructive way. Don’t you love that feeling after you leave the gym, being so empty and exhausted, knowing that you’ve given it your all? Instead of feeling frustrated about work or relationships and taking it out in other, less healthy avenues, being consistent about your physical training should help you feel better about life in general!

The difference between try and triumph is a little umph.” – Marvin Phillips

The former NBA player Marvin Phillips is spot on in his quip right here; sometimes the only way to get better at being disciplined is to start being disciplined. You’ve heard it said that the very act of smiling can make people feel happier, right? It’s the same, “fake it ‘till you make it” principle in action with exercising consistently.

What Marvin points out is that the “umph” is often the difference between winning and losing. The last “umph” might only be a 1 percent difference in actual effort, but that extra percent or two between “trying hard” and “giving everything you’ve got” can make all the difference in the end.

You will never look like the girl in the magazine. The girl in the magazine doesn’t even look like the girl in the magazine.

As we prepare for the journey ahead, it’s important to remember to keep our expectations grounded in reality. Being in the best shape of your life isn’t ultimately about how you will look, it’s about how you feel. No number of sit-ups or squats will turn you into an airbrushed, impossible-looking person; and that’s a good thing.

Exercise is like telling your body ‘you’re gonna hate me for this, but you’ll thank me later.”

No pain, no gain. It’s not always going to be easy, but it will be worth it.

“When you’re at the gym feeling like you’ll never be one of those people who look like they’ve been at it their entire lives, remember that they all started somewhere.”

Everyone is on their own, individual journey, so it’s vital to remember that the people you might want to compare yourself to started from ground-zero, just like you are. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so don’t hold yourself to too strict of a standard.

It’s actually pretty simple. Either you do it, or you don’t.

At the end of the day, it’s up to you. You are in control, which is both exciting and scary at the same time. Life can get in the way sometimes, between work, relationships, family, and other responsibilities, but those who really want to make a positive change will find a way to make time for themselves. Self-betterment isn’t easy, but it’s the hard things in life that are worth doing!

We believe in you, and we want you to know that the best place to start is with a group of like-minded, positive people who want to see you do well!
